Hi Everyone....

Hope all is well…we’re FINALLY getting some summer..been unseasonably cold for most of the time here on the BC coast till the last few days. Understand that you Easterners have been stewing.

After many years of trying (sad to see her going downhill form lack of use) have just managed to get a fellow to buy a friend’s (West Vancouver BC) built Rozinante. Strip planked with a little Dolphin gasoline inboard. Will recommend that he join up.

Question for you. Are you aware of plans for… or someone who has made one…a decent-looking wooden boarding ladder that would fit the Roz ? It can’t take up too much space but needs to be functional.

Thanks

George Kruzynski

PS We now have a 15 wk old PWD puppy… Daisy will be sailing with her two other buddies Sassy and Pancho tomorrow. Thus far we have been rowing our peapod with her. She seems unfazed by the crashing and banging into waves so looks like a promising sailor.

Wish us luck !
I am in the process of purchasing a Kenner fiberglass Rozinante in need of work. The first problem is the engine overheats. Apparently the waterjacket on this 12 hp Vire engine is not functioning. I know nothing about engines so I thought this was a good place to start. It is a 2 cycle salt water cooled (no heat exchanger)and when the engine was decomissioned 2 years ago apparently it was not wproperly flushed w/ fresh water. Consequently water is now not circulating and it overheats. Does anyone out there know of these engines and have any suggestions.

I have finally taken delivery of my Rozinante Suria.
As you will see from the pics attached of her launch, she is a very non-traditional setup. The previous owner discovered her in a boatyard many years ago and set about refurbishing and modifying for a new life on Port Phillip bay in Victoria, Australia.

The most significant change obviously is the conversion from a ketch to sloop rig. The original mizzen mast is now the boom, the mast has been lengthened four feet, and the cockpit has been enlarged. The cabin retains the V berth, however there isn’t room for anything else!

Her detailing includes African Rosewood, Beech and Teak. Her diamond rig was custom built including the fully battened main and furling head. She is a genuine performer and the new configuration is vey social, with 6 adults finding plenty of space in the cockpit.

I have several videos on YouTube and you are welcome to link them to the site if you think the members would be interested to see them. The best is the delivery video, taken this past Saturday. The yacht relished the conditions and thrilled us all with her abilities. We travelled 32 NM in under 5 hours with a max speed measured by GPS of 9.8KTS surfing down a wave. An absolute joy sail and a day I will not soon forget.

Warmest regards,

I recently became aware of a Rozinante in restorable condition in South Jersey. She still has her shape and most of her hull planks but would need major loving. Most of the deck was missing. The yard says that no one has visited her in several years but that they would be willing to act as intermediaries with the owners if someone were interested.

There was once an engine installed but that is missing.

Rozinante org,

I came across your site yesterday while looking for leads on a Rozinante that was built by Bill Livingston in Nortport Michigan around 1965. I have a Sept. 1966 copy of the Leelanau Enterprise with an article about Livingston and the boats he built, and among them, this Rozinante that was built for a client that was a member of the Milwaukee YC. Does this boat ring a bell with any of you in your organization.
Knowing Mr. Livingston as a young boy, I'd love to know if this boat is still among us somewhere.

Regards,
